It is therefore crucial to understand what exactly Diabetes fatigue is, as left untreated can cause more problems.


What is Diabetes fatigue?

Psychological fatigue among patients with Diabetes is common especially when they have a sense of poor self-management. This leads to poor health choices that will eventually hamper their control of Diabetes. This problem is multifactorial and bidirectional, meaning, each situation leads to worsening of the other.


Tips to overcome Diabetes Fatigue

1. Exercise

Exercise helps with so many aspects of Diabetes. As we all know exercising releases endorphins which are make me happy hormones. Anytime you feel fatigue creeping in, go out for a walk or do a quick 20-minute workout and you will instantly feel good, better yet, your sugars will thank you.


2. Eat a healthy balanced meal

Healthy eating is not only about glucose control and weight loss, but healthy eating also affects our concentration levels and can have a huge impact on your sleep patterns. Have a rainbow on your plate and take more serotonin rich foods such as salmon, nuts, pineapples. All these are mood boosting foods.


3. Support system

With all chronic illnesses, support systems are crucial. These can be in the form of strong family bonds or friends. in most cases though support groups are very beneficial since you share your thoughts with people who are going through the same issue as you.


4. Meditation

5 minutes of meditation including breathing exercises has been shown to greatly improve mood, concentration and overall manage anxiety.
